KOOKABURRA PARK

The name Kookaburra Park is a fictitious country town in Victoria.

It is a new layout for Darryn. It has 8 Aluminium frame modules that are held together with hinges and pins and track aligners. The legs are Aluminium and fold back into the frame, the tops are plywood.
We built it with Aluminium so it is a bit lighter to move about when I am able to take it to Model Railways Shows. It still has some of my old buildings with some new buildings to make a country town. The new buildings on Kookaburra Park Layout are precision laser cut kits from Aus-Scene Models, cut from 1mm to 1.2mm birch modelling ply. The kits come complete with plastic corrugated roof, glass, brick print (if applicable) and curtain print for house models.

It has a lift up section to allow me to get in and out of the middle easy. I work from the middle of it so I do not have to duck under any more.

I hope it will be a bit quicker and easier than my previous layout to set up and pack it away.

It has been built in the years of 2020 and 2021. My layout is a bit old and bit run down now and it is about 20 years old, so that is why I have a new layout.

Look for the Kookaburra Park War Memorial on his layout.

The layout is owned, run and transported by Darryn Coulston.

Darryn is a disabled adult who really enjoys being able to exhibit and run his model trains. Darryn comes from Baranduda, Victoria and has been exhibiting his trains for over about 20 years, during this time he has won the 2004 Sunshine Model Railway Club ‘Peter McLachlan ‘trophy, Encouragement Award in 2006 from the Bendigo Model Railway Club.

Encouragement Award in 2010 and 2011 from the Wagga Wagga Model Railway Club.

Darryn also has travelled to Canberra and Adelaide and all around Victoria with his layout.

Darryn runs VR and V/line Locomotives and Rolling Stocks and Carriages using the DC system. Darryn prefers this system as DCC is too expensive for him to change to.

Darryn also has a Flying Scotsman and a Ghan Locomotive with carriages.Darryn wishes to thank his Mum and Jim and all of the many businesses that we had to buy things from to build the new Kookaburra Park Layout.
